What is Fascia Yoga?

Imagine there is a secret heroine in your body responsible for posture, flexibility and health. Can you guess who it is? It's the fascia!

Fascia Yoga focuses on the connective tissue of the body that surrounds, permeates and connects muscles and organs. Fascia is the "new" skeleton. Highly resilient and at the same time as fine as a feather.

Fascia tissue is 60 times faster than the nervous system. It is feeling, instinct and intelligence at the same time.

I draw from the latest findings in fascia research and combine them with the principles of yoga. In doing so, I work closely with outstanding experts in the fields of fascia research, yoga and anatomy, especially Gary Carter. My work is also strongly influenced by experts such as Robert Schleip, Carla Stecco and Tom Myers.

How does fascia yoga work?

For the body, everyday life, being alive, is inspiration and challenge at the same time. Fascia Yoga acts like a time-out, like a pit stop in Formula One, where we experience a fine-tuning in deceleration.

Fascia Yoga...

Helps us gain more flexibility, clarity, freedom of movement and reduces the risk of injury.

Develops a depth effect on all levels.

Decelerates and leads to a feeling of calm and lightness in the body, a kind of rejuvenation.

Relieves pain and tension, e.g. in the back, neck and shoulders.

Promotes mindfulness and appreciation of the present moment.

For whom is Fascia Yoga suitable?

My classes are for "Every Body". Both age and physical requirements are not an issue, as it's all about the fascial body!

The approach of this work is the so-called Beginner's Mind. We always start like new, like for the first time.

The slowness and repetition are helpful in tracking down and invigorating the connections in the body.

The courses are suitable for all ages and levels, from beginners to people with many years of experience.

Fascia Yoga Course

My classes are a blend of yoga and anatomy to bring together one's understanding in both body, heart and mind in a sustainable way.

In class, similar to Yin Yoga, we give ourselves plenty of time to engage with the breath and gravity and its influence on our fascia.

Little by little, the asana forms emerge as dynamic, elastic fascia structures that give our mind and emotions a safe home. Yoga not as rigid asana, but as decelerated movement!

It is not about body "mastery", but on the contrary, about what the body shows us when we listen to it and give it space.

  • Filling and emptying one's body spaces in one's own breathing rhythm generates a wonderful body feeling that continues to have an effect in everyday life even after the lessons.

    Eve - movement educator

  • I dare to breathe in a completely different way in my abdomen/body, which has been plagued by many traumas and surgeries, and thus kindly encourage even deep fascial adhesions to move -out of shock rigidity-.

Cornelia - Specialist Psychologist for Psychotherapy-FSP

  • Chris Lechner, as a dancer uses his talent to show us movement, form and breath progression very precisely and organically. Very directly we can orient ourselves to his body movements.

    Eve - movement educator

  • In a completely new way I get to know my body in its entirety (muscles, tendons, bones, strands, fascia, organs, mind, etc.). A deep and genuine connection to myself is strongly encouraged.

    Celine - clerk therapist office

  • Chris has the ability to instruct precisely and with impactful imagery while offering enough space to explore on your own.

Katharina - Feldenkrais Therapist, Movement Educator

  • In fascia yoga I get on the track of myself, feel myself in depth, thanks to the conscious experience and perception of the body, its landscapes and laws - an experience in rest and movement.

    Ursula - artist

  • Chris is always curious to know more, see new perspectives and welcomes questions and comments during class, which is engaging for a student.

    Annette - Yoga Instructor

  • I hear my breath and am very close to and within myself. Then I hear the voice of Chris again, emerge again a little to dive down again and listen, feel and try out.
